Stress is a reality of police work. Stress is inherent in the work we do, dealing with people in their time of crisis and pain, seeing the violence that one human can inflict upon another, working long hours and making sacrifices because of the compassion we have for others.

These FREE seminars address the elevated risk for PTSD and suicide that law enforcement professionals face. This seminar is extremely valuable for its potential to save careers, families and even lives. Spouses / significant others are encouraged to attend.

Holidays are a busy time of year but consider taking a break long enough to begin the process to apply for a Police Benevolent Foundation scholarship. Access our website at www.pbfi.org/scholarships-2/ to learn all about the process and get started. Application packets must be submitted via U.S. mail/UPS/FedEx and signed by the applicant.Alabama: Madelyn Conewww.sspba.org/gen/articles/ALPBA_scholarship_recipient_plans_to_hit_the_ground_in_college_1048.jspMaddie Cone, Auburn University freshman, is eager to show her love for the outside world with a degree in agricultural education. “I chose this field to create change in the world through my love for agriculture and education,” she said.Because her father is a law enforcement officer and a member of PBA, Maddie qualified to apply for the annual scholarships funded by the PBA’s Police Benevolent Foundation. Her father, Ragland, Ala., police Officer Scott A. Cone, has about 20 years of experience under his belt. Maddie said the scholarship bolsters her own lifelong support of LEOs.“Receiving this scholarship is a great honor,” she said. “Law enforcement runs deep in my family. This scholarship not only helps to alleviate the financial burdens of college, but it also shows the great support PBF has for the families of law enforcement.” Maddie said she is excited about her future and teaching young students to love and appreciate the earth as much as she always has.“My career plans as an agriculture educator involve teaching high school students about the importance and reach of agriculture,” she said. “I plan to create engaging, hands-on learning experiences that cover topics like plant and animal science, environmental stewardship and agribusiness.
